The Pipiwai Trail is in the Kipahulu district of Haleakalā National Park. It can be accessed by driving 9.3 miles past the town of Hāna, on the famous Road to Hāna that circumscribes the northeast coast of the island of Maui. This area of the coast has been inhabited by native people for hundreds of years and remains an integral part of a thriving culture.
Visitors to the Kīpahulu District are treated to views of waterfalls, sweeping ocean vistas, and Hawaiian cultural experiences.
Kīpahulu is reached via Route 36 to 360 to 31. It’s only about 60 miles but driving time from Kahului is approximately 2.5-3 hours due to it’s windy and narrow roads.
